Air Traffic Control (ATC/ATM)

Displays, HMI Components, and Simulators for ATC / ATM Systems

Air traffic Controllers work on en route flight control

Air Traffic Controllers manage regional air traffic at an en route Air Traffic Management center.

Kongsberg Geospatial has a deep domain of corporate experience in Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Air Traffic Management systems (ATM). Kongsberg Geospatial has been creating radar displays and HMI components for Air Traffic Control systems since the early 1990s. We have created components for manufacturers and systems integrators such as Raytheon, Telephonics as well as Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP), including UK NATS, NavCanada, and the FAA – as part of Air Traffic Control systems all over the world.

In addition to creating highly performant displays and HMI components for Air Traffic Management, Kongsberg Geospatial develops simulation and training systems for civilian and military applications. Our I-SIM training and simulation platform is used in Air Traffic Controller training programs in multiple locations across the United States, and is used by the FAA as a modeling and simulation engine for FAA Metroplex Projects.

The I-SIM platform can simulate a variety of ATC/ATM systems with absolute fidelity, including ARTS, STARS, and ERAMS. The platform includes separate modules for Air Traffic Controllers, instructors, and pseudopilots, and the advanced data playback capability makes it an ideal tool for modeling, simulation, and analysis.

Kongsberg Geospatial recently developed a new embedded training and simulation system for U.S. Navy Air Traffic Controllers. The platform recreates Carrier Air Traffic Control Center (CATCC) control environments with absolute fidelity, and uses voice recognition to respond to verbal commands.
